Glamlock Fic: “Freak Out in a Moonage Daydream”

both-nine-and-ninety:

Title: Freak Out in a Moonage Daydream
Author:  Me, aka both-nine-and-ninety, aka Amanda
 Word Count: 1980
Warning(s): Eh, a light smattering of swear words. Other than that, I don’t think there’s anything in there that the general Sherlock fan can’t handle.

Rating: Definitely PG-13. Nothing big aside from the swearing.

Author’s Note/Geeky Ramble: Aiiiight. I decided to take the early 70s glam rock route with this as it’s what I know best, being a classic rock nerd and all. Sherlock became a hybrid of Lou Reed and David Bowie, whereas Moriarty’s character and band became very inspired by rougher pre-punk bands like Iggy Pop and the Stooges. In fact, while writing this, I realized that “Search and Destroy” by The Stooges could be the perfect theme song for Andrew Scott’s portrayal of Moriarty. These details just all just fits my personal Glamlock headcanon the best. Oh, and the title of this fic is from a track on David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. (/geek-ramble)

Last but definitely not least, I want to thank tacoface and sherlockiangirl for being my awesome-incredible-amazing betas! They rule!

I love how Glamlock’s really taking off! This is a great start to what is sure to be a fantastic fic—and now I can picture Sherlock yelling at me for being so boring and mundane with my adjectives. Just…just read it, okay?

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

I wrote this today and put it together on garageband. It’s called Friend of Mine, and was inspired by the BBC production of Sherlock

Lyrics:

You’re never thinking

But you’re always talking

And the Earth goes round the sun

How you think I’d be the one

To care and

People say that I’m

Running on overdrive

You putting up with me

Shouldn’t work so easily

I tell you

Lives run out day by day

Knowing what you wanna say

You keep it in the front of your mind

But the skull is a friend of mine

Tongue, lips, and teeth

Nervous habits out of reach

And your tremors hunker down

Slipping slowly to the ground

And I am

Choking on my answers

Never had the chance

To show you all the

Problems that I had

With what my good old pal Sebastian said

Lives run out day by day

Knowing what you wanna say

You keep it in the front of your mind

But the skull is a friend of mine

Good Omens: Crowley and Aziraphale
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman

I’m so glad that someone else out there thinks that this needs to happen.

brennando: I love being a femme trans boy, and that does not mean that I am "really still a girl."

brennando:

I love being feminine. A lot of people get confused when I tell them I’m trans. They’re like, “…But you’re not even butch. You don’t even act like a boy.”

Eek. Whenever I hear those two things, I cringe, take a deep breath, and attempt to explain the following to them:

Being butch and being…

genderqueer: A Note About Cissexism...

manybothans:

I had a really great pride this year, but I was also troubled by comments I heard over the last week from a lot of people in both the mainstream and radical queer communities. I want to say a few things about cissexism, specifically towards trans women and other MTF spectrum…

genderqueer:

Submission from her-sunshinee:
I know a lot of people don’t look at me and think “Genderqueer” or “Androgynous” because I don’t look it. I have long hair, dress casually, and if anything, people see my basketball shorts and rainbow bracelet and just think “lesbian”. But, in reality, my mind is of both genders, just as my sexuality involves loving both. And just because my body and clothes do not match this mentality does not make me any less genderqueer in the brain. How I express it is just a bit different. I wish to find more “girls” like me, who aren’t blatantly queer in their expression, but feel it inside. But, I don’t know if I will.
I may not be obvious to the first glance, but a books cover can never really give you the whole story.

I feel like this as well—I present very feminine, but I feel male.

Moa Constrictor: About "productivity".

tal9000:

youarenotyou:

What does it mean to be “productive”?

As someone who has struggled with life-long depression, and other problems that cause a depletion of spoons, one of the ways that I’ve shamed myself most is with this idea of productivity: feeling low when I believe I…

genderqueer: Trans*Racism, Queer Racism

artoftransliness:

I would like to call out my fellow white trans* and genderqueer folks on some serious racism and cultural appropriation I see within the trans*/GQ spaces we dominate. This racism carries extra weight when we are educating cis folks on what language to use when referring to…
